What [has] drawn me most to ACNH is the creative and educational potential.
I appreciate that the game includes many items and clothing from different real-world cultures, such as the music K.K. Marathon which is based on the Gamelan Music of Indonesia.
As I love to build and design, inspired by the many great islands I see on the internet, I decided to make my island fully based on my home country.
These are some screenshots of my island Cráton, that I made based on my home country Indonesia.
While the game has many items that facilitate East-Asian or European designs, creating builds based on other cultures or real-life buildings takes a bit more resourcefulness, with repurposing items to look like something else and heavy use of custom designs, which I design myself based on traditional patterns and architecture.
The whole thing was a very fun challenge and a great way to feel accomplished during the quarantine.
Most important of all, this is a way for me to share my culture with the ACNH community and the internet at large.
Along with the many other country/culture-based islands, I am glad to be part of an international representation in this game, and exploring them is a great chance to learn about foreign cultures and “travel” while the world is under lockdown!
